Mother to Son

Readers:  To anyone who has experienced the love of a mother in any way.

Mother to Son

By Langston Hughes 1902–1967 Langston Hughes

Well, son, I’ll tell you:
Life for me ain’t been no crystal stair.
It’s had tacks in it,
And splinters,
And boards torn up,
And places with no carpet on the floor—
Bare.
But all the time
I’se been a-climbin’ on,
And reachin’ landin’s,
And turnin’ corners,
And sometimes goin’ in the dark
Where there ain’t been no light.
So boy, don’t you turn back.
Don’t you set down on the steps
’Cause you finds it’s kinder hard.
Don’t you fall now—
For I’se still goin’, honey,
I’se still climbin’,
And life for me ain’t been no crystal stair.

Keeping Our Heads in the Clouds

Deep Reflection & Relaxation

Keeping our heads in the clouds is often the best place for it to be in order for us to move away from our daily stresses and reconnect to the majesty of eternal nature that is far greater than our present condition.

We've all had instances where we've put aside a difficult work assignment, a paper we were writing or a life challenge we were grappling with. To get away from it all we may chose to take a walk to clear our heads, have a lunch break with friends, spend a weekend in the country to get out of the noisy city or take a trip to the city to move away from the quiet of the country.  Often when we return we find we have new solutions to our challenges.   Sometimes we may find we are able to sail through prior obstacles with an ease that we would have thought unimaginable prior to our taking a break from what we believed was an impossible situation.

Let's take time each day to silence ourselves and relax, to listen to good music, to read inspirational words or  meditate. Then come back to our life's challenges with a renewed energy.                              .

Spending time daily with our heads in the clouds may help us live a more peaceful and productive life here on earth.

Peace & Blessings
