Living with the Winter Blahs

Though the heart warming memories of the festive Christmas season have drifted far behind us, bleak snowy days and long dark nights still lay ahead. Do we find ourselves falling asleep earlier and waking up later in the still dark mornings while not able to drag ourselves from under the warm cozy covers?  Can we not shake that sleepy feeling until well into the afternoon?  Then the winter blahs have engulfed us.

Now might be a good time for many of us to keep our new year's resolution and begin exercising at least 20 minutes a day.  Jumping jacks, running in place and any other form of aerobics will help energize us and begin to chase the winter blahs away.  Also we can enjoy the many blessings of being indoors.  Plan card parties, pot luck dinners with friends and catch up on reading the books and watching the DVDs we've been wanting to curl up under the comforter with and enjoy.

As we move toward the end of January the days are growing longer. The stores are already beginning to display their colorful spring fashion wear.  Take heart --  the warm sunny days of spring and summer are not too far away.  And soon the Winter Blahs will be a distant memory.
